For those who don’t know about what Quora is, It is a website that allows its user to ask questions on any topic or answer the question asked by other users of the website and you can also know which user who had answered to your question. Today we are going to discuss the success story of Quora and Adam D’Angelo.

Quora is founded by one of the co-founders of Facebook who was Adam D’Angelo which is present CEO of Quora and he also had a 0.8% stake in Facebook, he had awarded in Informatics International Olympiad in the year 2002. He studied in “Phillips Exeter Academy” as his high school where Mark Zuckerberg was also studied. He also went to the California Institute of Technology from 2002 to 2006 to complete his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. During High, School Mark met with Adam and became friends. Both interested in programming and like to create software and websites. Due to high interest in Computers and software they together created a music suggestion software that serves you music as per your taste of music, they named this software as ‘Synapse Media Player’ which got a huge success and attracted the eyes of Microsoft to buy that. Later Adam went to Caltech for further studies. At Caltech, Adam launched a website named BuddyZoo which allows their users to upload there aim and compare it with other users of the Website. He stopped his studies for almost a semester to help Mark Zuckerberg to create Facebook. After studies, Adam decided to join Mark Zuckerberg’s team of Facebook as VP but Adam retired as Facebook CTO in 2008 because he has some different plans in his mind.
Adam D’Angelo and Charlie Cheever together created Quora in June 2009 and made it public after a year. The thing which attracted users to Quora is its authenticity not only Quora have information but it presents the answer with proofs and facts. There are many platforms which are like Quora, for example, Facebook, Tweeter, Wikipedia, Yahoo Answers, and many more but it keeps its answer reliable by making the real name a mandatory field. You can choose your favorite topic, peoples, and questions and follow them. On based on your interest you will get the recommendation to follow the questions or to answer the questions. If you don’t like an answer or you think that is not correct then you can comment on that answer or you can downvote that answer.
Adam started Quora when he was just 20 years old. One day when Charlie and Adam were enjoying their food in front of Facebook’s office started discussing the area of the internet was less website available for a topic or you can say topics on which searches are very high but websites are very less. So they started searching about these type of websites and they found that there are many very fewer websites which are available for question and answers even those which are available is not liked like by the peoples. They found that Yahoo answer has more than 50 Million users in the US every month but very very few topics justify the answers others are answered with very few knowledge or the answers are just random answers or given by doing very less research. Quora’s business strategy is to make a community which has peoples who have big ideas in their brain and join the peoples who whats to solve the problems of the world. The beauty of Quora is it allows their users to present the answer to the question, which is their point of view. It is not mandatory to answer in the way the book is written. Quora is designed in such a way that if you visit quora to get the answer to your question you will get trapped in the topic which is related to your question. Quora can be used to the small business to build their customers clearing their doubts about there product and quora is the best place to get started. Whenever you solve a problem a feeling of helping you back comes in the person whom you helped which attracts your customers your business. Now Quora is getting more than 80 million traffic per month which creates a good resource to research your customer's type and what thing they like in your product or what they do not.
After resignation, Adam found that he can start a business so he immediately started to work on a project they named the project as Alma Networks. Later they told Rebekah Cox and Kevin Der to join Quora and they agreed to join them and they started to build there project. After a few months, they launched the beta version of there online service for testing it and share this with your there friends. In a very small period of time, the site gets very popular in Silicon Valley and the beta users who had got the invitation to the site started to invite there friends and grown there user base very quickly. Quora had created about 500k users which was operated by only 18 employees. In 2012 Charlie stepped down from the company but continued with the company only as an advisor. Now Quora has about 130 employees and has a growth rate of 300%. The user base of Quora has 50% users from the USA and 15% from India. In total it had raised 141 million from 11 investors. The current value of Quora is more than a Billion dollars. After becoming a big company Quora had invested in Hike Messager which is started in India but they had not told what amount they invested.
